As part of early DAFF development, Airside Projects designed and installed 3D screening technologies for testing across multiple mail centres, cargo centres, and airport screen sites. We implemented a Hybrid shorten shroud system for screening with internal radiation curtains, facilitating the screening of light articles with rolling. Additionally, we developed a proprietary screening database for tracking luggage using Automatic Tag Readers (IATA bag tags), enabling tracking and recall of images and operator decisions pre-customer reclaim. Later, a full-featured RFID system was designed and installed for remote baggage tracking post-x-ray, allowing for targeted passenger screening as baggage is screened prior to collection at the carousel reclaim. This technology will soon be given a full-scale trial at Melbourne Airport as part of the DAFF ongoing technology development works.
